09 Jan 2020

There’s never a shortage of fun activities to pursue in Patong. If this is your first visit to Patong as a family, you may have the assumption that the town offers visitors beach activities and nightlife catered to adults. However, nothing could be farther from the truth.

As a family holiday should be spiced up with some fun activities that you may not be able to experience at home, Patong is the perfect family-friendly destination that offers fun activities – both in the sun and indoors.

Lucky for you, we’ve listed five exciting activities that the whole family will enjoy in and around the town of Patong.

Patong Go-Kart Speedway

Both kids and adults can satisfy their need for speed with a trip to the Patong Go-kart Speedway. Their 750 metre track provides all the heart-pounding speed you could ask for. With adult karts featuring 200 and 400 cc engines, adrenaline junkies can enjoy high speeds of 60 kph and 110 kph respectively.

They also have carts for your little ones to ride in, with 140 cc engines that can reach speeds of over 40 kph. If your little one is scared of driving alone, you can opt for the two-seater where adults can ride with the youngest members of the family at up to 60 kph.

Phuket Wake Park

If you are looking for a thrilling yet challenging activity, Phuket Wake Park is the place to go! A family-friendly wake park, every member of the family can experience riding a wakeboard on the calm lake located just outside of Patong. Here, you can enjoy hours of fun in the sun, as an overhead cable with tow ropes for both beginners and experts!

Kids aged between 12 and 16 years old can sign up for the Kids Wake School, or for those who are much younger can join Kids Wake Camp which caters to 6 to 15 year olds. The park also has a swimming pool for those looking for some downtime and if you begin to feel peckish, their restaurant serving Thai, European and Russian dishes to satisfy your appetite. Should you want to purchase your own gear, they also have a shop that sells professional wakeboarding equipment and swimwear for all ages.

Zorbing at Rollerball

Established in 2012, Zorbing at Rollerball is located on the hills overlooking Kalim Beach with a 190-metre track for families to enjoy the unique outdoor activity.

For those new to the concept, zorbing requires participants to climb into a large, clear and flexible ball that is filled with roughly 40-litres of water for stability. The ball is then rolled down one of the two paths, providing you with an exhilarating (and wet) ride. You can choose either the flat, straight channel or the one that has twists, turns and bumps for the more adventurous.

Why not bring your loved ones to experience the truly unique sport of zorbing, and the best part is that it doesn’t require any experience to enjoy!
