7 Places For Your Family Holiday In Phuket

Considered the largest island in Thailand, Phuket is well-known for its crystal blue waters and white sandy beaches. Although many families come to Phuket to relax on its famous beaches under the tropical heat, the island has many attractions to offer from exploring nature to exciting water park adventures. Here are our seven family-friendly attractions in Phuket for you and your family to enjoy during your time here.

Old Phuket Town

Phuket is home to a culturally diverse population and at Old Phuket Town, the Baba community’s heritage (a unique mix of Hokkien Chinese and Thais) can be seen through this quaint town’s atmosphere. Enjoy a stroll down the streets whilst admiring the strong contrast from the tourist-oriented areas of the island through the town’s 19th Century architecture and colorful Sino-Portuguese buildings.

Spend the day exploring the many quaint cafés, museums, shrines, temples and more to experience the personality that shines in Old Phuket Town. As there are lots to see and do, we highly recommend to start your exploration either in the early morning or after the sun has gone down to avoid the strong heat.

Ao Phang Nga National Marine Park

Famous for its gravity-defying limestone formations, Phang Nga Bay is home to over 40 islands and is considered one of the most beautiful places to visit in Phuket. The bay has become a popular tourist attraction as many of its islands have been featured in several James Bond films.

With many activities available for you and your family to enjoy, choose from snorkeling, scuba diving, relaxing on the beach or join a tour and spend the day exploring Phuket’s beautiful cliffs, caves and mangrove forests. Pictures of Phang Na Bay do not do its beauty justice and should definitely be appreciated in person!

Jungceylon Shopping Mall

For those of you who are looking to get your retail fix or to bring some souvenirs back home, Jungceylon Shopping Mall is a shopper’s paradise. Located in the heart of Patong Beach, this air-conditioned shopping mall is the largest on the island with many designer branded outlets, pubs, supermarkets, and food outlets for you to sample International and local favorites at reasonable prices.

There are many activities here for your little ones to be kept entertained. They can choose from watching a movie at the cinema, bowling at Strike Bowl, or running around Kidzoona’s large, indoor playground in air-conditioned comfort.

Splash Jungle Water Park

Spend a fun-filled day out with your family at Splash Jungle Water Park. Located near Phuket International Airport, this water park is perfect for adventurous families as they offer 9 water rides for all ages to enjoy.

Bring your little ones on a floating journey along the Lazy River or whizz down water slides and enjoy the water spray stations at the Aqua Play and Kids Pool for a good laugh! For more adventurous families, feel the adrenaline rush as you slide down the 15-meter high Boomerango or take a spin on the Super Bowl and plunge down a dark tube for an exhilarating time.

You won’t have to worry about leaving the park for lunch, as there are plenty of food and beverage outlets around the park. For those who want to grab a quick bite to eat, there are several Snack Huts around the park selling snacks such as popcorn, candy floss, and more!

Yellow Submarines Of Phuket

Treat your family to a one-of-a-kind experience by taking the plunge off the coast of Phuket in a yellow submarine. With only two companies offering 5 submarine dives daily, see the world from 30-meters under sea level in these technologically advanced watercraft.

Hop aboard their 48-seater air-conditioned submarines, equipped with large portholes and external cameras connected to LCD screens inside for you to witness the charm of the Andaman’s marine life. Enjoy this underwater trip with your little ones and learn about the beauty of the sea as you get up close with coral, algae and fish.

Phuket Elephant Jungle Sanctuary

Considered the most ethical elephant sanctuary in Phuket, the Phuket Elephant Jungle Sanctuary is an educational and fun activity for you and your little ones to have a fun-filled time. Spend half of the day getting up close with elephants in their natural home as you learn more about these magnificent creatures from the sanctuary’s English-speaking guides.

With only two sessions daily, you will be able to bathe, feed them bananas and take a swim with the elephants. You don’t have to worry about bringing a camera with you, as the sanctuary provides professional photography at no extra cost! As you will get wet and muddy from these activities, it is encouraged to bring a swimsuit, a change of clothes and plenty of sunscreen with you.

Paradise Beach

Located only eight minutes away from Patong Beach, spend a day out in the sun at Paradise Beach as it offers a variety of activities for you and your family to enjoy. Take part in a game of beach volleyball, kayak through the clear blue waters or spend the day relaxing in the sun. Don’t worry about leaving your personal belongings unattended, as there are changing rooms and lockers for you to store your valuables.

If you are feeling peckish, there are a good selection of restaurants offering Thai and Italian cuisines as well as refreshment stalls for you to stay hydrated. You can choose from eating at the dining room next to the beach or ordering your food and drinks from the comfort of your sun lounger.
